Of course the deeper the throat, the deeper the lump... Thus begins my unpublished collection of zoo erotica “The Elephant in the Room is a Giraffe.”

Obviously as I type this on 7/7, listening to the BBC, the elephant in the room is not a giraffe.

However, the giraffe in a bedroom of my sister’s house looks like this:

necking

For reasons, I’m still not totally clear on she wanted a giraffe painting, and who am I to deny such a request? In this case it was a birthday gift, but if the stars align, and I have the time and you have the cash, I am rarely above taking the occasional painting commission.

As for other things to put on your wall, here’s another month of “Kidnews” cartoons from The Chicago Tribune (most original artwork is available for purchase—non subtle hint #413). Regular readers know the drill, just click on the black and white pictographs (this month scattered atop an experiment involving the “tiling” filter in Photoshop) to see the images larger and read more of my seemingly related rambling (and overused parenthetical asides).

So until next time, I leave you with a bit from the last paragraph of “The Optimism of Uncertainty” by Howard Zinn (well worth your time to Google and read the whole thing):

“An optimist isn’t necessarily a blithe, slightly sappy whistler in the dark of our time. To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic.... The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”

We’ll see how it goes...
