Another cheap pop culture shot, which apparently got some people’s panties in a bunch, read their letters here.
One good (or bad) thing about the weekly disposable nature of the newspaper was that it allowed me to indulge in references that were very of the moment, something I usually try to avoid in favor of the delusion of making the cartoons more “timeless.” This particular one probably influenced more than a little by my voracious reading of “Mad” magazine as a pre-teen.
