Originally this was deemed “too obscure” as it was going to be “about” Zamfir “Master of the Pan Flute” going “gangsta” to appeal to “the kids” — the only thing that “survived” from that idea was the cd title “Drive By Fluting” (Do “I” use “too” many “quotation” marks?).
Was told by the editors that the “audience” would have no idea who “Zamfir” was. To which my response was always, “They can look it up if it peaks their curiosity.” To which the editors’ response was always a variation on, “It’s not necessary information, the joke is the title.”
Oh Zamfir, will they ever understand us?
